(RICHMOND- WINA) A coalition of African-American leaders met in Richmond on Wednesday to show their support for Lieutenant Governor Justin Fairfax. They want Fairfax to ignore calls for him to resign his post after two women have accused him of sexual assault.
They say the Lieutenant Governor deserves “fairness and due process” and contend Virginia has a history of murdering black men followig unfounded accusations. Fairfax has adamantly denied allegations he sexually assaulted Meredith Watson at Duke University in 2000.
He also characterizes his sexual encounter with Vanessa Tyson at the 2004 Democratic National Convention in Boston as consensual.
