Multiple medals for a local veteran of the Women’s Army Corps, also known as WAC. 100-year-old Millie Pretzer (pictured with Senator Tim Kaine) received an Army Good Conduct Medal, the WAC Service Medal, the American Campaign Medal, the World War II Victory Medal and the Honorable Service Lapel Pin. Pretzer called Senator Tim Kaine’s office to see what medals for which she might qualify. Pretzer says she never thought Senator Tim Kaine would show up to pin the awards to her lapel. The Charlottesville-Albemarle American Legion Post 74 was also on hand to make her an honorary member of the organization.
