Washington and Lee University is removing Confederate flags from its Lee Chapel. W & L President Kenneth Ruscio announced the change in a Tuesday e-mail to the faculty and students. Earlier this year, a group of African-American law students demanded the school banish the flag from campus and repudiate one of Ruscio’s predecessors as President, Robert E. Lee. While the 1995 reproduction flags will be removed, the school expects to display original flags on a rotating basis.
