Two men are accused of stealing cars in the region and selling them for scrap metal. The Buckingham Sheriff’s Office says the suspects are 45-year-old Leo Thomas Herring, Jr. of Schuyler and 39-year-old Jason Todd Cash of Dillwyn. They were arrested following a lengthy stolen car investigation. Cash is charged with ten counts of grand larceny and Herring is charged with 11 counts. They’re accused of stealing unregistered vehicles and selling them as scrap metal at a recycling center in Waynesboro. Buckingham Sheriff William Kidd says most of those were taken from property with absentee landlords. Other agencies involved with the investigation were the Albemarle and Waynesboro police departments, State Police, the DMV and the U.S. Marshal’s Service.
