Republican Wins Special House Election In Tidewater

An Accomack County Republican won a special election Tuesday for a seat in the General Assembly. Bob Bloxom, Junior, racked up 60% of the vote and will represent the Eastern Shore counties and several Norfolk precincts in the House of Delegates (pictured). Bloxom defeated Democrat Willie Randall of Accomack County and will be the new 100th District Delegate. The special election was necessary after former Delegate Lynwood Lewis became a new state senator. Lewis is a Democrat, and Bloxom’s victory means Republicans will now hold 68 of the 100 House seats. GOP House Speaker Bill Howell calls Bloxom’s win a rejection of Obamacare and Medicaid expansion.
