New Mosquito-Borne Illness Hits Virginia

Mosquitos have brought a new illness to the Old Dominion. Chikungunya has infected six Virginians believed to have acquired it in the Caribbean or somewhere else outside the U.S. Symptoms include pain and aching in the joints, high fever and sometimes headaches, and recovery can take weeks or even months. The state health department says youd should take extra precaution such as getting rid of standing water, applying repellent and wearing long sleeves.
