Morgan Moses Update From Redskins Mini Camp

The Washington Redskins have completed their Rookie mini camp, and for Cavalier fans, they are wondering how former tackle Morgan Moses is doing.  See the notes below from JP Finlay of CSNwashington.com on Moses’s progress.

But what draft pick will make the biggest impact in 2014? Will it be the first pick, Trent Murphy, a pass rusher out of Stanford? Gruden spoke highly of Murphy.

“We’re very excited to have Trent,” Gruden said of Murphy after practice. “He is another element out of the pass rush that we very drastically need and  he did some good things coming around the corner. He’s got good inside moves. He’s got a good spin move.”

Murphy faces a squeeze for playing time, lined up on the depth chart behind Washington’s two best defensive players in Brian Orakpo and Ryan Kerrigan. A good pass rusher will force his way onto the field, but Murphy faces a bit of an uphill climb. After Murphy, the team took Virginia’s Morgan Moses, a tackle prospect that could emerge as a starter.

“He’s got a ways to go. He’s a right tackle,” Gruden said of Moses. “We’re happy with his progress. He’s got a major, major upside with his size.”

Not exactly a ringing endorsement from Gruden, yet the potential of Moses is obvious.

Moses talked about the experience:  “Now I don’t have to worry about school and all this stuff…going to classes, I can just focus on football.  I mean it’s a great opportunity you know I’m taking it one day at a time, learning the play book, just coming in being a rookie, and being a professional.”
