The University of Virginia has lost one of its major benefactors. Ruth Sacks Caplin was 93 when she died last week in Washington, D.C. She was the wife of onetime IRS Commissioner and former Board of Visitors’ member Mortimer Caplin (he’s the man with the bowtie, photographed during the 2012 groundbreaking for UVA’s Ruth Caplin Theater). The Caplins recently donated $4 million to establish the Ruth Caplin Theater as part of the UVA Arts Grounds.
Daniel L. Shelton, 23, found guilty of solicitation of a minor, possession of child pornography and failing to register his social media accounts as a violent sex offender.
Charges include forcible sodomy and manufacture of marijuana.
A friend of the 13-year-old said she told her not to talk with older men she met online, because she might bet hurt or kidnapped.
UVA's All American averaged 24 points in wins against Boston College and Pitt.
