Culpeper Wrongful Death Lawsuit  Could Be Settled Soon

A settlement is pending in a Culpeper County wrongful death lawsuit. The Culpeper Star-Exponent is reporting the insurance carrier for the town of Culpeper will compensate the family of a woman who was killed by a police officer nearly two years ago. The late Patricia Ann Cook died after she was shot by former officer Daniel Harmon-Wright (pictured) in February 2012. Circuit Judge Susan Whitlock will be asked to approve the settlement. If the judge agrees with the terms, the cases against Culpeper’s current and former police chiefs will be dismissed.  Cook’s family sued the town for hiring and retaining Harmon-Wright on its police force. The amount of the settlement has not been revealed.
