House Members Debate Execution Methods

House Members Debate Execution Methods

The House of Delegates is debating a bill that might let more convicted killers die in the electric chair. The measure lets the Department of Corrections choose electrocution, if the drugs for a lethal injection are not available. Henrico Democrat Joe Morrissey believes that’s wrong.  Manassas Republican Jackson Miller says his legislation lets the prison system carry out the orders of judges and juries after capital murder trials.  Miller has urged fellow lawmakers to ignore Morrissey and other death penalty opponents.  The House of Delegates (pictured) is scheduled to vote on the bill Wednesday afternoon.
