A retired teacher from Western Albemarle High School is accused of soliciting a minor. The Augusta County Sheriff’s Office says 66-year-old John Daniel Patterson, Jr. (pictured) of Waynesboro is charged with using a communications system to facilitate certain offenses involving children. An Augusta deputy posed online as a 13-year-old boy and was contacted by an unknown male. The sheriff’s office says it led to an agreement to meetĀ for a sexual encounter. Patterson was arrested at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Verona. Patterson was a longtime social studies teacher in the Albemarle school system.
