Local Farmer Promotes Amendment For Direct Food Sales

A constitutional amendment to allow the sale of food directly from the farmer to the consumer.  That’s the latest effort by Christine Solem, a farmer in northern Albemarle. Solem has been trying for decades to allow food to be sold without going through processing. Her effort in this year’s General Assembly fell short.  She says the measure will be introduced again next year by Delegate Ben Cline (R-Amherst County).
