A general who was killed in Afghanistan made his home in Virginia. Army Major General Harold Greene died Tuesday when a gunman believed to be an Afghan soldier opened fire at a military academy near Kabul. 55-year-old Greene lived in Falls Church. He was born in Albany, New York. Governor Andrew Cuomo has ordered flags on that state’s government buildings to be flown at half-staff Thursday. Greene is survived by his wife, Susan, and their two children, Matthew and Amelia.
