Fifth District Democrats have selected part-time actor Lawrence Gaughan to be their nominee in this fall’s race for Congress.
The 47-year-old Gaughan (pictured) won a first-ballot victory Saturday during the Fifth District Democratic Convention at Fluvanna County High School. Gaughan defeated Fluvanna Democrat Ben Hudson, who also waged a brief write-in campaign for Congress in 2012. Gaughan will challenge two-term incumbent Congressman Robert Hurt (R-Chatham) on November 4th.
