Democrats Hold Seminar On Voter ID Law; Backers Of Immigrants Assemble

Charlottesville area Democrats spent part of the weekend holding a voter ID seminar, and heard from their nominee for the Fifth District seat in Congress. Lawrence Gaughan (pictured) is challenging two-term Republican congressman Robert Hurt in the November 4th general election. Gaughan spoke to Democrats who want to boost their turnout during this election cycle and make sure their supporters have identification. Meanwhile, advocates for immigrant rights assembled Saturday at the Church of the Incarnation in Albemarle County. Groups such as the League of United Latin American Citizens are trying to make sure immigrants have access to driver’s licenses.
