City Council Learns More About School Budget

City Council Learns More About School Budget

Charlottesville School Superintendent Rosa Atkins has explained more of the school division’s bigger budget items to City Council. Atkins hopes to maintain smaller class sizes at the city’s elementary schools. That’s especially true for schools with more young kids who qualify for free and reduced-price lunches. Clark Elementary (pictured) is an example of that. The school division needs more than $200,000 to cover everything in its preliminary budget. The council is getting ready for a public hearing on the city’s next budget. That meeting will begin at 7 p.m. Monday in City Hall.
