There will be a lower rate for daytime parking in the flat lot next to the Water Street parking garage. Beginning September 1st, the rate goes down to $2 an hour from the current $2.50 between the hours of 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. The change comes with the introduction of an automated parking system in the lot. Mark Brown, the new owner of Charlottesville Parking Center, says he wants to bring more people downtown.
