The UVA Football team has wrapped up spring practice, and now their focus is completely on the off season and preparing for an August 30th match up with #7 UCLA. Virginia is coming off of a difficult 2013 season, and the team is focused on different actions in the off season to achieve a different result. Zack Bradshaw, a sophomore linebacker practicing with the first team during spring, says it’s time for a different result. ” I came from a winning program in high school, I’ve never been part of a losing football team. So to have that experience it kinda makes winning more valuable than it was in the past, and its pushing us to work even harder and try and get better and win some games this year.”
Bradshaw went on to describe, in an appearance on WINA’s Best Seat in the House, that change started back in December of 2013. ” I think the work ethic, especially the winter workouts has increased tremendously from last year.” Bradshaw says the addition of Mike Archer and Jappie Oliver have added an intensity to practices, as the defense looks to improve. ” They’re a lot like Tenuta, they both have a very aggressive coaching style, they’re high energy guys too. As a linebacker I was used to coaching like that from Tenuta last year, but especially the defensive lineman, they may have had to adjust the most to Jappy’s coaching style. It’s worked out really well, the defensive line did great this spring.” Oliver replaces Vincent Brown, who left the program to become a co-defensive coordinator at UCONN.
