Albemarle Supervisors Urge State Lawmakers To Adopt Budget

The Albemarle Supervisors want the General Assembly to adopt a new budget, and do it now. The board unanimously approved a resolution Wednesday urging state lawmakers to resolve their funding disputes before the current budget expires June 30th. County Attorney Larry Davis believes there are state-funded offices that would keep operating after July 1st. Some of those offices are run by Commonwealth’s Attorneys and Sheriffs. The county’s senior staff says the absence of a statewide spending plan would create a $76 million hole in the Albemarle budget.
