Albemarle Officials Offer Advice For Dealing With Lightning

The Albemarle Fire Marshal’s Office warns lightning is the last thing you want to see when you’re out in the elements this summer. Assistant Fire Marshal Mel Bishop says some people try to take cover under trees, and they actually attract lightning bolts. Bishop says it’s a good idea to avoid chores such as dish washing or laundry when there are lightning strikes. That’s because lightning bolts can have an affinity for plumbing systems.
