Virginia Tech President’s Car Hits Student’s Bike

A young woman on a bike escaped serious injury in a collision with a car driven by Virginia Tech President Charles Steger. A spokesman for the Blacksburg school has told the Roanoke Times that Steger’s car hit the bike Wednesday morning near a drill field. Virginia Tech did not release the name of the young woman, but the newspaper identifies her as 19-year-old Abigail Motley. She had minor injuries. The Tech student’s older sister says the 66-year-old Steger (pictured) stopped after the collision and sent the freshman flowers with a note that read “Hope you are okay!”
