The provost of Purdue University will be the next President of Virginia Tech. 55-year-old Timothy Sands (pictured) will take the reins of the Blacksburg school on June 1st. He will succeed Charles Steger, who became Virginia Tech’s president in 2000. Sands is an engineering professor at Purdue, and he served as the acting president of the Indiana school during the fall semester of 2012. He will have a starting salary of $700,000.
