Congress won’t end its August recess until next week, but Virginia lawmakers are reacting to President Obama’s decision to request authorization for a military strike against the Assad regime in Syria. Freshman Democratic Senator Tim Kaine (pictured) believes Congress must denounce what Syrian leaders have been doing. Kaine says even though many of his constituents are “war weary,” they still support Virginia’s large military community as the President tries to gain approval for a Syrian strike. Virginia Beach Republican Scott Rigell says he’s looking for assurances that Obama will be committed to carrying out whatever Congress might approve. Rigell also wants a way to measure the success of any military venture in Syria. You can hear the comments of Senator Kaine and Congressman Rigell by clicking the button below.
