Virginia Passes On Federal Education Grant

State officials will not compete for a chance to get millions of federal dollars for education. Virginia will not bid for $ 45-million in grant money from the Obama administration’s Race to the Top program. According to the Governor’s Office, there are several reasons why Virginia won’t compete. They include a tight timetable for submitting an application and additional costs a few years down the road. The program is designed to promote early childhood learning and development.
