Virginia Has New Laws For Moped Owners And Texters

Being a moped or scooter owner has become more complicated.    You must now register those vehicles and wear a helmet if you use them.    Martha Meade of AAA-Virginia says you don’t need a regular driver’s license, but you must carry a government-issued ID card.    Meade says the youngest drivers also face new restrictions.    Anyone who’s driving with a provisional license can face limitations.     Virginia has also made texting while driving a primary offense.    If you get caught, it can cost you $125.    The new laws took effect Monday.
