There will be very few partisan changes in the House of Delegates. Nearly all of the House members who ran for reelection Tuesday had their tickets punched for new two-year terms. Madison County Republican Ed Scott (pictured) won a sixth term, brushing aside a challenge from Culpeper Democrat Traci Dippert. GOP Delegate Lee Ware of Powhatan County will keep his House seat, which includes precincts in Fluvanna County. Ware trounced his Democratic challenger, former Goochland Supervisor William Quarles. The only House members who appear to have lost their seats are freshman GOP Delegates from Northern Virginia and Tidewater. Republicans picked up open House seats in Southwest Virginia and Bedford County and will continue to have a two-to-one advantage in their chamber.
