Venable Locked Down Following Home-Invasion Robbery

City police are still looking for suspects in a daytime home invasion robbery on Wertland Street. The incident resulted in a lockdown at Venable Elementary School. The robbery happened at around 2:30 p.m. Thursday in the 1300-block of Wertland Street. The victim told officers two black males broke into his apartment, robbed the place, and then ran eastward on Wertland. The suspects are believed to be in their late teens or early 20′s. One was 5’6″ and the other was 5’9″ tall. Police say one man was wearing or carrying an orange shirt, and the other wore dark shorts. Nobody was injured. The lockdown at Venable lasted for about 15 minutes, delaying buses and parents picking up their kids. Superintendent Rosa Atkins is praising the quick response from the Venable administration, teachers and staff.
