UVA Has Preliminary Price Tag For Strategic Plan

University of Virginia officials believe their latest strategic plan will cost more than half a billion dollars. The five-year plan would pump more money into faculty salaries. UVA is bracing for nearly 300 faculty retirements in the next few years, dominated by the first wave of the post World War Two baby boom. President Teresa Sullivan (pictured) has warned the Board of Visitors that UVA needs a more competitive pay scale. The University and Virginia’s other public colleges have also told state officials they will expand their enrollments. UVA has estimated it will gradually add nearly 1100 more students by 2019.
