UVA alumnus Mark Sandford heads back to Congress

A University of Virginia graduate has survived a rough special election and he’s heading back to Congress. Former South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford (pictured) will be the most junior member of the House of Representatives.

MarkSanfordSanford is a 1988 graduate of UVA’s Darden School and served in Congress from 1995-2001. He withstood a recent challenge from Democrat Elizabeth Colbert Busch who scolded him for leaving his wife and having an affair in South America. ¬†Satirist Stephen Colbert, who’s the brother of Sanford’s election rival, will give Saturday’s valedictory address at UVA.¬† ¬†Sanford was a guest on the cable show Fox News Sunday.
