UVA Alumna Gets One of Higher Education’s Biggest Jobs

One of the best-known women who earned a degree from the University of Virginia will get a big salary increase when she takes her new job running the University of California system. Janet Napolitano (pictured) has been a U. S. Attorney, won three statewide elections in Arizona, and she’s the first woman who’s served as Secretary of Homeland Security. Napolitano is a 1983 graduare of the UVA Law School. In April 2004, Napolianp was back on the Grounds for a UVA Distinguished Alumna award.
