There is no state sales tax until next Friday on many items that involve emergency supplies. Virginia has kicked off another sales tax-free holiday, and this one focuses on anything you buy that prepares you for bad weather. The Atlantic hurricane season formally begins June 1st. Joel Davison of the state tax department says supplies that cost $60 or less are covered by the sales tax holiday and so are portable generators with a price tag that’s $1000 or less. Davison says the tornadoes in Oklahoma are a reminder that bad weather can hit anytime, anywhere. You’ll find a list of covered items at http://www.Tax.Virginia.gov.
