Economic development gets a boost in the county. The Albemarle supervisors will move forward with a plan that could eventually set up an economic development office. They’ll hear from others who have moved in that direction, and then any action would come in the spring when the supervisors work on the budget. Neil Williamson of the Free Enterprise Forum is a strong supporter of having an economic development office in the county. Williamson says the office should be concerned with creating jobs at all income levels, not just the higher-paying jobs. Supervisor Dennis Rooker says the county already has made a lot of progress in the area of economic development.
