Two Virginia nuclear power plants experienced dozens of safety violations between 2000 and 2012, but many of those posed very low risks. At the North Anna plant in Louisa County, there were 115 lower-level violations during the time period and one higher-level violation. At the Surry plant, there were 92 low-level violations and three high-level violations. The violations are included in a congressional study that’s expected to be released this month. The North Anna and Surry plants are owned and operated by Dominion Virginia Power.
