Concerns About Funding For Future UVA Research

Some members of the University of Virginia faculty are admitting they are worried about future prospects for research dollars. Provost John Simon told the Board of Visitors earlier this summer that administrators are facing some tough decisions on funding. Simon said he does not want to suggest that some research areas are more important than others. He does believe the University must prioritize its spending on research. Chris Holstege, who’s the new chairman of the Faculty Senate, says discussions about research spending should involve many professors.
