Small Plane Crashes In Spotsylvania

Virginia State Police say suicide could be a factor in a small plane crash that killed the pilot. State police spokeswoman Corinne Geller says 22-year-old Edwin G. Hassel of Fredericksburg was the only person on the plane when it crashed Monday evening in Spotsylvania County. Geller said Tuesday in a news release that the single-engine Cessna 172M was flying near Shannon Airport when it descended rapidly and crashed. The plane then caught fire.
