Delay On Whether To Make Class Rankings Public

The Albemarle School Board has postponed a decision on class rankings for high school students. They plan to vote on a policy November 14th. The issue is whether or not to make it public how a student ranks in the graduating class. Assistant Superintendent Billy Haun {pictured) says a shrinking number of school divisions publicize class rankings. Haun has spoken to admissions officials at many colleges. The county will still need to compute class rankings for students who apply to West Point, Annapolis and the Air Force Academy. They are also used for some scholarship programs.
