Getting a university degree at a community college price. That idea is being considered by the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia. Students could complete a four-year university degree at two-year college prices. The higher education council has endorsed it and the Virginia Community College System also thinks it’s a good idea. The difference in the cost would be covered by expanding an existing grant program. Also, students transferring to a private school would pay about the same as attending a public college. UVA (pictured) is the flagship school of Virginia’s higher education system. It would not happen until the General Assembly approves it. The recommendation is being sent to Governor McDonnell who would have decide if he wants to include it in his budget.
