Another good report on retail sales in our region. The Charlottesville Regional Chamber of Commerce says total retail sales for Charlottesville and Albemarle are about 1.5% higher during the first three quarters of this year compared to the January-through-September period of 2012. Those who crunched the numbers say we’ve clawed our way back from the big across-the-board slump we saw starting at the end of 2007. Retail activity was 8% higher in Greene, but down 5% in Louisa. They were up 9% in Augusta, but down slightly in Waynesboro.
