Police Want Community To Take Pro-Active Approach To Gangs

Law enforcement in our area is being proactive about gang activity. Albemarle Police Chief Steve Sellers says the community involvement in the problem is crucial. There are several new opportunities to help fight gang activity in our area. Director of the Department of Criminal Justice Services Garth Wheeler says one of them is through a program called GRACE, which stands for Gang Reduction Through Active Community Involvement.

If you want to be a part of the GRACE steering committee email Jenna EastonL@albemarle.org or contact the Albemarle County Police Chief at askthechief@albemarle.org.

If you want to talk about how gangs do or do not affect your life contact Dr. Maryfrances Porter at (434)825-4841.
