Shenandoah National Park will honor its volunteer force on September 28th, which is National Public Lands Day. The park is planning major projects for the fall, including the removal of invasive plants from the Big Meadows area. Volunteers play a significant role in that effort. Spokeswoman Karen Beck-Herzog says the Skyline Drive will get 20% of its yearly visitors during October, which is the peak time for the turning of the leaves. The park will waive its regular entrance fee on September 28th.
