Lawyers for Republican Mark Obenshain (pictured) have officially filed the paperwork asking for a recount. The request was submitted Wednesday morning in Richmond. A certification by the State Board of Elections on Monday showed Democrat Mark Herring won the election by 165 votes out of more than 2.2 million cast. One of the Obenshain attorneys, Stephen Piepgrass, says the recount will be supervised by a three-judge court. Piepgrass says there will be an initial court hearing within a week to work out more details. He says lawyers for both sides are meeting ahead of time to resolve any possible disputes.
