State Police say two people face charges after two young girls were discovered in the back of a U-Haul truck at an Interstate 81 rest stop in Rockingham County. 42-year-old Khalid Sheffield of Stockton, California, is charged with kidnapping by parent, child endangerment and drug offenses. His passenger, 36-year-old Kathleen Duenas of Birmingham, Alabama, is charged with child endangerment and drug counts. Sheffield is the father of an 11-year-old and Duenas is the mother of a 4-year-old found in the back of the truck. Police say a witness reported two visibly upset children being forced into the back of a vehicle Tuesday. Police found them locked inside with a makeshift bed and some food. Police say they also found marijuana and pills in the truck.
