The county prosecutor has decided not to file any charges in the shooting death of a ten-year-old Crozet girl. Maggie Hollifield died of a gunshot wound May 21st on McAllister Street in Crozet. The Medical Examiner ruled that it was an accident. The Albemarle Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office says a 13-year-old boy was repairing and cleaning his shotgun. The safety lock was not engaged and the gun accidentally went off while he was cycling shells. Commonwealth’s Attorney Denise Lunsford says the death was not intentional and not the result of recklessness. As a result, the boy and his parents will not face any charges.
