New Scam Targets Virginia Senior Citizens

New Scam Targets Virginia Senior Citizens

Both Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli and the Better Business Bureau have warnings for older Virginians about a scam involving medical alert devices.    Cuccinelli says anonymous phone callers that profess to be from a medical alert device firm are telling senior citizens they will get free or reduced-price items in exchange for personal information.    Tom Gallagher of the Better Business Bureau says scam artists are targeting vulnerable seniors who live alone.  Both the Attorney General’s office and the Better Business Bureau are warning consumers to hang up if a caller demands personal information.
