Man Convicted Of Sex Crimes In Louisa Heads To Prison

A man who’s been convicted of sex crimes against a young girl is heading to prison. Joe Callis Leake (pictured) of the Montpelier area of Louisa County has pleaded guilty to abduction, forcible sodomy, aggravated sexual battery, object sexual penetration, producing and possessing child pornography, and indecent liberties with a minor. Leake was sentenced Thursday to spend 480 years in prison, and all but 115 years of that was suspended. Louisa Commonwealth’s Attorney Rusty McGuire says Leake, quoting now, “stole the innocence of a child and will spend the rest of his life in prison.” The 36-year-old Leake was arrested in March after a 10-year-old girl and her mother complained to law enforcement agencies. McGuire says detectives found Leake’s home was stocked with candy, Chips Ahoy cookies, costumes of superheroes, and undergarments for little girls. A Louisa detective testified Leake’s cellphone had pictures of the victim, and was discovered in Fluvanna County.
