MADD Applauds Increased Labor Day Patrols

Police in Virginia and across the country are out in force through the Labor Day weekend looking for drunk drivers as part of the annual Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over Campaign.
Mothers Against Drunk Driving national president Jan Withers said high-visibility law enforcement is a proven way to reduce drunk-driving deaths. Withers says instead of being frustrated by checkpoints, remember the officers are just trying to save lives. According to the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles, 229 people were killed in alcohol-related crashes in the state last year.
