Local Bank Robbery Suspect Gets Caught In Augusta County

The suspect in last week’s armed robbery of a Charlottesville bank has been caught in the Shenandoah Valley.    City Police say the Augusta County Sheriff’s Office has arrested 37-year-old Richard Nelson Hawkins III (pictured).    Hawkins was arrested without incident at 3 p.m. Sunday.    He’s accused of robbing the Downtown Mall branch of United Bank late on the afternoon of June 17th.   Hawkins is being held in the Regional Jail.
