The new Ivy fire station has been in service since July 1st, but dignitaries gathered Thursday for the official ribbon-cutting ceremony. The station is in part of a warehouse owned by UVA behind the Northridge medical facility. Its neighbor is the Korean Charlottesville Community Presbyterian Church. University President Teresa Sullivan and Albemarle Fire & Rescue Chief Dan Eggleston praised the cooperation among all the parties involved. Residents who will be served by the new fire station could see lower insurance rates. The fire station will have public tours on September 28th.
