A Virginia Beach radiologist loaned $50,000 to a real estate company owned by Governor McDonnell and his sister. Following that, Dr. Paul Davis was offered an appointment to a state medical board, but he turned it down. That information comes from the Washington Post. The newspaper says the loan from Davis appears to have been reported on McDonnell’s required annual financial disclosures. Davis says McDonnell’s company repaid the loan last year. He says he’s been a friend of the governor for over ten years. Davis says he believes the appointment offer was unrelated to the loan.
