State Police say an inmate who fled from a work-release program in Augusta County was caught Wednesday night in Washington, D.C. Spokeswoman Corinne Geller says 44-year-old Karan Batra (pictured) was on the run for nearly nine hours. Batra was part of a work-release program at the Shenandoah Valley Regional Airport in Weyers Cave. He was caught shortly before 7 p.m. Wednesday. Batra had been convicted of non-violent crimes.
